The Mirror has reported that pubs struggling to survive in the current economic climate may be given grants drawn from council tax revenues.
These grants will be given out under the Sustainable Communities Act and will require pubs to adapt in order to help themselves and the community around them.
For example, serving as a post office or making dinners for the local school may qualify a pub for a grant between £5,000 and £20,000.
Mike Benner, a member of the Campaign for Real Ale, believes that the Sustainable Communities Act ‘could not have come at a more crucial time’.
If you own a pub, it is essential that you have the appropriate level of pub insurance to protect yourself and your property.
