Rick Stein, who owns various restaurants and cafés in Padstow, Cornwall has proposed opening a new fish and chips takeaway in Falmouth.
Stein has chosen Falmouth due to its deep harbour, its yachting community and its links to maritime history.
However, some members of Falmouth’s restaurant community are worried about Stein’s entry into the takeaway market.
On discovering that Stein would be serving oysters, the owner of the local Seafood Bar claimed it was pointless to try and compete with him.
However, the owner of another fish and chips shop in the area has stated it will not only be good for the town, but will be good to have some competition.
