Public liability insurance … glasses not included

Employers must ensure that any employee that needs to wear prescription glasses or contact lenses whilst driving, are wearing these whilst operating vehicles at work.

Recent research by YouGov, a measure of public opinion, showed that one in five drivers that should wear glasses driving, did not do so whilst operating workplace machinery.

A third of the people polled believed that it was not against the law to drive without your prescription.

Whilst it is not a legal requirement to have an eye test until the age of 70, when using vehicles either for social and domestic pleasure or for business, it really should be seen as imperative to promote safe road use.

The use of a vehicle by a person who has chosen to not wear their prescription could invalidate a companies public liability insurance.
