According to the BBC News Magazine, pick-up trucks are being increasingly seen on UK roads.
The BBC suggests that the UK have been drawn to this slice of Americana by, ironically, a Japanese car manufacturer – Nissan.
Car-writer Adam Raynor, states that the Nissan Navara has become increasingly used as a family run-around because, ‘They’re practical, with more than two doors, sumptuous interiors and room in the back for all sorts.’
Of course, Pick-ups are also used commercially in the UK, often in place of a traditional van.
The vehicles might look good, but they offer little in the way of crash safety – Euro Ncap was critical of the Navara’s design
Pick-ups also offer very little fuel economy (although this is something Ford are working on) and the sheer size of the vehicles also poses a problem- just how will they fit down our country lanes and in our cramped car parks!
