Taxis in the Big Apple have TVs in the back. We didn’t know this here at Quotiva — we’re too busy working hard and helping our customers find an insurance comparison quote — and frankly we’re not that impressed.
Isn’t the whole point of getting a taxi ride to chat to the cabbie, or at least to dwell in silent solitude (that’s why you chose a cab over the bus/tube right?) — how can you do any of this with a TV blaring away. Even if you do want to gorge on meaningless images and 24/7 news, most people seem to have smart phones for this purpose now.
It turns out that we’re not the only people slightly bemused with the in-cab TVs. 45% of New Yorkers find the televisions an irritant.
54% of Manhattan residents can’t stand the televisions, with 42% switching them off as soon as their journey begins. Let’s hope this gimmick doesn’t cross the Atlantic!
The Quotiva Network can help taxi drivers across the UK find insurance cover, whether that be public or private hire insurance.
