More data released regarding uninsured drivers

by Tim on September 24, 2009

The Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) estimates that nearly two million drivers hit the road in 2008 without the necessary car insurance. The BBC reports that the MIB is planning to educate uninsured drivers by warning them about the dangers of skipping on motor insurance. According to the organisations chief, Ashton West, driving uninsured ‘is simply not worth the risk’.

The minimum punishment for those caught driving without motor insurance is six points on their driving licence and a £200 fine.

The release of these figures coincides with a suggested change in the law. It may soon be illegal to be the registered keeper of an uninsured vehicle if it has not been declared off the road. Hopefully this won’t penalise any law abiding, but forgetful, drivers out there!

The Quotiva Network can help you find many types of insurance online, ranging from taxi insurance, young driver insurance, motortrade insurance to caravan insurance and many more.
