Liability fraud on the rise

by Tim on October 30, 2009

Motor fraud is no longer in vogue for criminal gangs as their focus moves to public and employer’s liability scams.

Liability fraud involves gangs organising ersatz accidents in workplaces in order to claim money from their victim’s public and employers’ liability insurance policy.

Roy Hebburn, technical divisional claims manager for Allianz believes that criminals may be focusing on liability scams due to the success that the Insurance Fraud Bureau has had tackling motor fraud.

Allianz fraud manager Mihir Pandya has also noted that liability fraud is becoming more common in old motor fraud hot-spots - - the North West and north London.
