Hyundai’s Scrappage Success

by Tim on December 14, 2009

Hyundai are undoubtedly the motor trader to have made the most out of the UK scrappage scheme. In fact, so popular is the brand that customers ordering either the i10 or 120 have been asked to wait up to four months to receive their vehicle.

Thanks to the demand created by the scrappage scheme, the company’s UK team has grown by a fifth . The company are also breaking sales records — managing director of Hyundai UK, Tony Whitehorn, has stated when speaking to industry magazine Motor Trader that Hyundai’s previous annual sales high was 37,000, but this year sales will reach  about 55,000.

Of course, with mixed industry forecasts for 2010 the firm is not planning to rest on its laurels. Next year will see the massively popular i10 have its first facelift and the introduction of a small MPV to the vehicles currently on offer.

Perhaps the most interesting factor in Hyundai’s rise in stature is that their vehicles are outselling “quintessential” British standards such as the Ford Fiesta and the Vauxhall Corsa.

With the scrappage scheme coming to an end in February 2010, Hyundai aren’t the only manufacturer who may see a significant change in their sales figures next year. Many dealers are also worrying about the increase of VAT too. With this in mind, traders will want to keep costs as low as possible – by using the Quotiva Network to find motor trade insurance it’s possible to compare the best quotes quickly and easy, saving money in the process.
