According to stats from the Motor Insurers’ Bureau there are 243,000 drivers aged between 17-20 driving on British roads without insurance. The BBC has highlighted the issue in a recent article that illustrates that one in 20 cars across the UK is in fact uninsured.
Of course many people many wonder why uninsured drivers are an issue. The BBC article explains that if you are involved in a non-fault accident with an uninsured driver you will have to claim on your own insurance policy.
This of course means that any no claims bonus you may have accrued will be wiped out, increasing the cost of your insurance premium.
