Tradesmen apparently cause around £590 million of damage to homes in the UK per year — 20 per cent of these tradesmen are also working without public liability insurance.
This news — via TotallyMoney — was taken from research carried out by Sainsbury’s Home Insurance.
The figures show that one in five tradesmen is operating without PL cover, meaning that over £100 million of the damage caused may not be covered by an insurance policy.
It turns out that most people hiring the services of a tradesman forget to ask whether or not they are insured . Scots are the best for remembering to check for PL cover, with one in five asking in advance of work being carried out.
The Quotiva Network is able to provide both public liability for tradesmen and home insurance cover for home owners — both involve filling in one short online form to receive multiple quotes.
